The Global Talent Initiative was first introduced by the Australian government in December 2018. As part of this initiative the Global Talent Independent program, which has since been renamed as the Global Talent Visa Program, was launched in November 2019. The purpose of this program is to attract highly talented individuals with entrepreneurial ideas and cutting-edge skills within selected industry sectors.
